Prologue: I have some vintage/antiqueaudio items for ebay, which I have been asked to sell for a friend of mine, who has recently emigrated from the U.K. He couldnt take all this stuff with him, so asked me to take it off his hands, & dispose of it, for whatever I could get, then remit the proceeds to him. I could keep some commission, and he wouldbe fairly flexible on this. I told him ebay would be best. But some of the larger items would be difficult, because of weight, packing &c. So were starting with small, light items that can be easily packed & therefore offered world-wide. Ortofon MCA-76. Kindly note: This item is only for sale in the U.K. If you play vinyl discs, 33 / 45, and are considering upgrading to a moving coil cartridge, this may be for you. Its a pre-amplifier which will boost the very low output from a moving coil pick-up cartridge, up to the level commonly to be fed into an audio amplifier at the level of a moving magnet pick-up cartridge. As clear as mud? Possibly; but there are people out there who have moving coil cartridges (alas, all mine are magnetic), and apparently this Ortofon is highly reputed and, if they havent got an Ortofon MCA-76, they may well wish they had. Well then! This is your chance to acquire one Ive tried it out & it works, although, the impedances are all wrong for my magnetic cartridges. So I cant definitely say it will work with your set-up.
