REFURBISHED ARISTON PRO MANUAL TURNTABLEWITH ORTOFON OM10 CARTRIDGEThe AristonPro was one of the last main decks from Ariston. At this time, there was the”Icon”, a suspended sprung deck, and the “Q-deck”, a moresimple solid plinth design that proved very popular in the 1990’s. The Pro tookthe solid plinth of the Q-deck, stripped away the semi-automatic featuresleaving a fully manual deck, but paired it with the superior “Enigma”tonearm from the Icon, as well as the Icon’s thicker mat. If the Q-deck wascompeting with the Dual 505, then the Pro was aimed at the Rega Planar 2. AsCDs grew ever more popular, Ariston faded from the scene and the Pro became arare turntable. Do not confuse this deck with the Ariston Pro1200 which targeted the DJ market. The Ariston Pro was one of the last Scottish”Transcription Turntables” produced by them before the brand becamesimply a Far-Eastern “badge”.This one hashad the main and motor bearings lubricated, new damping fluid in the cueinglever, the drive belt replaced and the arm tightened. It is running andsounding really well. The Ortofon OM10 cartridge and stylus also seem fine andoffer an upgrade route using other OM stylii.Cosmeticallythe plinth is pretty good and the lid is in very good condition.Cash-on-collection fromBristol BS15 is preferred where it will be demonstrated working, however I have boxesand packaging to pack securely for courier posting.
