Rareearly model Diktat Type D2 tape recorder – circa mid-1950sMadeby Max Holzinger & Co. MnchenThisis a very early example of an office Dictaphone and dates from aboutthe mid-1950sPerhapsit needs to be in a Museum specialising on early recording apparatus.Therecorder and the foot switch are solidly constructed and housed in’hammered’ finish metal cases – hence the weight.Unitis ‘new’ and not used, being stored for many years. The recorder wasunpacked for photos. It does have signs of ageing but generally is invery good condition. Outer package carton show signs of ageing andstorage dust. Ido not know the state of the components inside the Diktat unit – soit is sold as seen.TheDiktat Unit is a Type D2 and serial No. is 2728Completewith : Substantialmetal foot control (2 buttons) Type FD2, serial No. 1815 connects tothe rear of the unit. Like the recorder, this is untested.
1unopened reel of Agfa tape type FS (150 m) and spare spool.Stethoscopetype headphones (untested) with 2 banana plug type connectors. Thesemay also incorporate the chrome microphone piece which locates at the junction of the earpiece arms.Regrettably,no instructions.PLEASENOTE : As far as I am aware, no power has been applied to this recorder, so not sure whatthe state of internal electrics are, especially the electrolitic capacitors. Best if power is applied using a Variac or similar a/c voltage control device – so I’ll leave that to those withknowledge about these things. Some of the electronicsmay be seen with removal of panel under the recorder – see Photo No. 9. Soldas seen in photos – I can provide more pictures if needed.Detailsof a later model, D3, may be seen here :https://www.radiomuseum.org/r/holzinger_diktat_d3.htmlWeightis 12Kg (Packaged 15Kg) so shipping will be by courier – usually UPS International. Additionalfees may apply if damage / loss insurance is higher than 50 GBP.Please note : Courier shipment cost to European countries varies – quoted price is minimum. Please contact me for specific quote depending upon delivery location.
NOTE: Local collection available by prior agreement (Buckingham area)NB.I have now just 1 more of these recorders – in the same condition / state.Contact me should you wish to purchase additional unit.
