About this Nait 3R
A very fine example of the classic Naim Nait 3R amplifier.
This amp has been fully tested and is in full working order. There is no hum/buzz through the speakers and the volume and balance work smoothly. All the LEDs lights work, as does the main Naim Audio logo. All the sockets are secure and corrosion-free.
Cosmetically, its in very good condition. The front and rear panels are unmarked. There are a couple of minor scuffs on top of the lid but these havent cut through the paint and only show in certain lights. There is also a minor mark towards the top of one side (please see photos). Because of the position, this hardly shows. Please take a look at the photos to make your own appraisal.
Its supplied with the contemporary system remote control, which was an extra cost option at the time. This gives you full control of the amp as well as other Naim source components. Its also in full working order and in excellent cosmetic condition.
The amp is supplied with instructions for the Nait 3 amp (same amp, without the remote control). There is some writing inside the manual, but the wiring diagrams and instructions are plain to see.
The amp is unmodified and the static power cable is original and fitted with its original UK plug. It hasnt been cut-down or modified, either.
Please note that this is the MM Phono version with the AUX input set for Moving Magnet cartridges.
About the Nait 3R
The Naim Nait 3 is a classic Naim amp that was launched to replace the Nait 2 in 1993. It lasted right through to 2000 and was the last of the Olive integrated amps.
This is the 3R version which, as the name suggests, came with a remote control. This model was introduced in 1995 and offers remote control of the volume, balance, mute and source input – so is pretty comprehensive
The Nait 3R used the pre-amp section from the NAC92R and the power amp from the NAP90 so, in effect is a genuine pre and power amp in one box!
As youd expect from a Naim amp, it uses top quality components and is superbly built. The volume control is a quality ALPS device (these give accurate volume adjustment and low noise). The power supply is a toroidal device that gives this little amp a much more dynamic sound than you might expect.
The inputs are more generous than the first and second Nait amps and include a set of RCA phono inputs. In addition to these it also has four DIN sockets, two of which are suitable for recording as well as playback. There are also balance, mute and monitor functions.
Like other Nait amplifiers, the sound is exceptionally good and it was rated as one of the best-sounding amps under 750 in its day – something that still stands today – just see the reviews online and in the Hi-Fi press.
