After the easy set up I could not be happier with my purchase. I had Sony surround sound before this and this sound bar blows that out of the water. Excellent base and clarity. My most recent TV is the Vizio E420i-B0 which has downward firing speakers that are tolerable but definitely lacking when it came to watching movies. I decided to shop around for a home theater system. I liked the idea of a sound bar because it simplifies the set up and avoids running wires everywhere. I’m on a pretty tight budget so I narrowed it down to either the Vizio 38″ 2.1 or the 5.1 set up. Since I live in a relatively small apartment, I thought that the rear speakers would be overkill and a hassle to set up. I went with the 38″ 2.1 sound bar. The sound bar took about 5 minutes to set up and it automatically paired to the wireless subwoofer when I plugged it in. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that I could control the sound bar volume with my Vizio TV’s remote without any extra set up or programming steps.First, let me say that I was BLOWN AWAY by this sound bar. This thing is a huge upgrade over my TV’s built in speakers. Dialogue is clear and crisp, sounds are separated beautifully, and the bass is so strong that I’ll probably have to turn it down to avoid annoying the neighbors. On a related note, this sound bar gets LOUD without any noticeable distortion. I watched the Hunger Games at about 30% volume and even that was almost uncomfortably loud. I could hear leaves crunch, waves crashing on the beach, birds chirping in the distance, and numerous other details I would never pick up on through my TV speakers. The simulated surround sound worked well enough so I left it on, and this sound bar sounds great whether it’s on or off. Obviously it’s not the same as a true 5.1 system, but it made for a truly cinematic experience in my small apartment living room.
