AR EB101 Turntable 1984 – New Belt – AT120e Cartridge – Beautiful Condition
From the AR (Acoustic Research) stable -who brought you the famous ‘Legend’ and ‘XA / XB’ range of turntables, this later ’84 model EB101,a full suspension turntable deck, in Black Ash finish.
The AR turntable was one of the first suspended-chassis turntables. The suspension system is superb at isolating the record from external shocks and providing an excellent platform for vinyl playback.
This example is in beautiful Black Ash, having been fully serviced and re-oiled, the main bearing having NO detectable wear & the AR tonearm in great shape with NO discernible bearing wear in this sector either,and fitted with a very high quality AT Cartridge.

Much, extensive re-work has been undertaken on this deck, the main work being listed below. I have drawn a stop as to the level I wish to personally pursue, but as a ‘tweakers’ turntable the bar has no limits!
The underside of plinth and the sub-platter have been sound treated with a rubber/sorbothane mesh to significantly reduce spurious noise. The 3 point ‘T’ suspension bar has been treated with a 2mm cork/nitrile material (this combination of rubber & nitrile guaranteed not to crack or deteriorate over time). The audio benefits have to be heard.The 3 spring suspension has been fine adjusted to give a full 15 second bounce to isolate the deck further from unwanted vibrations.
High quality Clearaudio RCA phono plugs have been fitted to replace the original tack ones.
The AT120e Cartridge appears to be a match ‘made in heaven’ for the lightweight AR tonearm and sound oh, so sweet. Any audiophile will know this is a highly acclaimed Audio Technica cartridge and retails AT 150 ALONE!
A Very Clean and presentable AR Lid is included with NO cracks, splits or deep marks.The Platter is quite rare being finished in ‘Camera Crackle Black’ with polished alloy trim & very attractive too! A heavy Felt Mat is included also.This is one of the nicest EB101’s I have come across and deserves a good home which to give years of pure vinyl enjoyment!
