Akai CD player/recorder CDR-160W – plays well but problem with recording . Condition is For parts or not working.
Although I have listed this as not working, it is only the recording side that has a problem. Both trays, A and B, will play a CD without any problem and you can swap quickly from the A tray to the B tray using the front panel or the remote which is included. It used to produce very good recordings. From memory you needed to use blank CDs that were specific to recording music. However, now when a new blank CD is put in the B side, it appears to be recording fine until the end when it tries to ‘finish’ the CD. It then just gives an error message and nothing is recorded.
It’s a great looking piece of kit ( see the photos) and sounds lovely, it’s just that it is not reliable as a recorder. It could be something that is easily fixed but not by me.
