This is a Beautiful Machine. Vintage Amplifiers have a certain cache. Often they produce asound richer, fuller and of possibly greater depth…that many considersuperior to anything new. The name that consistently and most prominently headsthis list is Marantz. Giving credit to Harman Kardon, various Pioneer andSansui models, Vintage Marantz amplifiers still are at the top of the list ofClassic Audiophile Favourites. Offered for sale here, is a brilliant Marantz1050. This classic, silver faced model comes from a time that pre-dated thePhilips/Marantz union. As expected the machine has all discrete components andso is strong and robust; very durable and typical of its type, whenneeded repeatedly repairable over and over again. *Serviced, Jan2018.Condition issuperb. It does carry age related marks but the face is clear and shiny. Allturned silver control knobs are full and complete – as are all switches andslider controls. Print and lettering is clear and prominent. Sound is theMarantz strong point and it excels here. Presentation is rich, deep andpowerful. Despite a modest rating of 50 Watts RMS Total power, this amplifieras with all vintage Marantz units sounds much stronger andlouder than contemporary units.
