A rare black Parasound Halo P7 fully analog multichannel preamplifier.The Halo range encompasses Parasound’s very best high end pre and power amplifiers. The Parasound P7 has two sets of analog 7.1 inputs, excellent for use with blu ray players with analog outputs (like my Oppo 103), SACD players and so on.There is also a switchable MM/MC stereo phono input for a turntable. The Parasound P7 phono stage is excellent and if you love vinyl you’ll be surprised by the quality of the P7. Reviewers have said ‘The phono stage of the P 7 alone makes it a component worthy of praise.’Another seven stereo inputs including a balanced XLR input.There is a serial port for RS-232 control, rear IR input jack (if the P7 is being used in a cabinet for example), front headphone socket and mp3 input, subwoofer output with bass management and three 12V trigger outputs.Each input can be assigned the name of your choice on the display which has five brightness settings. Other features include a theatre bypass mode, source input level matching, and tone control if desired.The remote control offers access to all functions including individual inputs, bass and treble adjustment, front rear left and right volume adjustment, subwoofer level, volume muting and so on.Reviews of the P7 universally praise the natural and engaging sound quality, the depth of the sound stage and spatial presentation. It has been described as ‘hugely seductive’ and ‘an involving sonic experience’ and I think that the P7 looks as good as it sounds. It is a testament to the design of the Parasound Halo P7 that it handles traditional stereo vinyl, CD sources, mp3, and also multichannel audio including subwoofer with such clarity and finesse.
I recommend collecting the P7 if that’s an option. It’s currently still connected to my system and can be auditioned if you wish.
Shipping isn’t an issue. The P7 comes with the original unmarked remote, manual, power cord, a couple of extra cables I’ve never used and the original blue velvet bag used to protect the P7 in transport, and of course the original double wall shipping boxes.
