REFURBISHED,NEW MATCHED CAPACITORS.These lovely examples of this remarkable Britishclassic speaker have been testedelectronically for continuity and resistance. The beautiful teak cabinets have been refinished and look very nice.The internal components have been removed,examined, cleaned and carefully reassembled having had new capacitors. They have undergone a listening test and found to perform superbly.The original grilles were damaged so newacoustically transparent cloth has been fitted. They were missing the Celestion15 badges so replicas have been fitted.The old terminals have been replaced with new nickelplated banana/bare wire connectors. I haveput them through a frequency test aswell as listened to CD, vinyl and radio. Excellent!As you can see from the photos, they look outstanding. They will look great in any room.The Ditton 15 isa two way construction with 1 dome tweeter, 8 bass driver and 8 passive radiator,housed in a relatively rigid, braced enclosure. There is a first order filterfeeding the bass driver and a second order filter feeding the tweeter, so afairly simple crossover setup. The remarkable thing about these speakers isthat they sound like a quality three way speaker! Frequency Response: 30 15,000Hz Sensitivity: 90dB (1W input, measured at 1m) Impedance: 8 (4 min.) Some of thosedevelopments are a secret to this day! All their domestic speakers and guitarspeakers are worthy of praise. Some grabbed the reviewers attention more thanothers, like the 10, the 15, the 44 andthe 66. As a consequence some models arent as expensive as others, so its possibleto pick up a real bargain.It gives me immense pleasure to work withvintage speakers and to restore them to their original factory specifications.This includes the drivers, the cabinets and the crossover capacitors whereappropriate.My aim is to keep the speakers as original as possible in terms ofsound and appearance. They wont leave my workshop until I am happy that the restoration hasachieved my goals. Sometimes due to certain types of damage (deep scratches oredge chips ) a total renovation cannot be achieved to the quality I would like.But I wont let any item leave until I am sure that the best result has beenachieved and that the result is totally acceptable.
